It's Almost Class Time!

The wait is almost over! In just one week, my class at the Artful Gathering Online Retreat will begin.

And during those 6 weeks, I will be available in the virtual classroom to answer any questions you may have. Post your questions, show photos of your completed work, and chat with other students. It's just like being in a real classroom...except you can wear your pajamas ;)

Chicken Lips in Art Doll Quartely

If you are a doll maker or just love a quality, creative magazine, then no doubt you are familiar with Art Doll Quarterly. This wonderful publication is packed full of amazing art dolls and creations, inspirational stories and stunning photography. I've been a faithful reader for the last 5 years.
So it is with much excitment that I announce my appearence in the the Fall issue of ADQ! I have been honored with the coveted "Artist Profile" section. An 8-page spread of my work and studio plus an amazing article by the super-talented Ricë Freeman-Zachery - I feel like I'm on top of the world!

Thank you to the wonderful staff at ADQ and Ricë for making me look so good!

Chicken Lips....in Print!

The new ESC catalog has just arrived and I was so thrilled to see that my creations have been given 2 two-page spreads  – 2 pages for Halloween and 2 pages for Christmas. Seeing this catalog in my mailbox made me giddy with excitement! The reality that my pieces will now be seen by thousands of people across the US (and beyond!) is both thrilling and a little bit intimidating.

I now have to sit back and wait to see how my designs are received by not only the wholesalers but the buying public as well. Early indications are pointing to a positive response...and I'm hoping for the best! I'll keep you informed as I know more.

If you are interested in finding a store near you that carries my reproductions, please visit the ESC Trading Co. website...

Or, you can visit my website for a list of retailers that are selling my reproductions through their online stores.

Chicken Lips Gets a Facelift

Over the last 5 years, I've revamped my web site about 4 times. The frequent updates are due to the fact that I'm a web designer and I always want my site to look fresh and current. This latest update comes more out of necessity than "want."

Since the introduction of mobile browsing on phones and tablets, designing a full-functioning web site that is viewable on all devices is a VERY tricky situation. What works on one phone will not work on another. And, since my last site was Flash-based, it would not work on iPhones or iPads (thanks a lot Apple!).

So, in an attempt to make my site accessible to everybody, I've had to ditch some of the fun bells and whistles I had in the past. But, I've replaced those with more photos and content to make for a better browsing experience and a more comprehensive look at me and what I do.

This new site also gives me a bit more flexibility in adding content such as announcements, special events and online web shows.

Please stop on by and take a look - I'd love to know your thoughts :)

The Repo's Are Here!

It's hard to believe, but after a 17 month-long process, my reproductions are finally on their way to stores! I keep pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming!

It is almost surreal for me to see my designs wrapped in plastic and nestled in their compact, Styrofoam containers. Seeing my creations like this really hits home that my designs now have the potential to be seen worldwide!

I initially wrestled with the idea of licensing my work. Could I really turn my original designs over to someone else for reproduction? Would I become a "sell-out?"

After lots of thought, I realized that my reproductions could reach far more people than I ever could on my own. I think of them as little "Chicken Lips" ambassadors that can go out and spread the word about my art!

Stepping into this world of reproductions in NO way means that I'm going to slack off on my original creations for sale - quite the contrary! My studio is full of new pieces that I'm working on and I'm gearing up to work 4 art shows this Fall. I plan to keep the reproductions and my originals separate, so I will not be selling them online or at any of my shows.

If you are interested in finding a store near you that will be carrying my line, visit www.esctradingcompany.com for details.
